Stress is part of the job

What do air traffic controllers and PR pros have in common?  Hint: not on-the-job naps.

According to a recent study by CareerCast, these are the top two most stressful jobs in America.

I’ve have held several of the high stress jobs on this list and fail to see what’s wrong with stress.

I’m not an adrenaline junkie.  I am the first to take a pass on thrill rides, skydiving, etc., but I do some of my best thinking under pressure and can respond easily to others working under the same conditions.

Journalists are always working on deadlines with little control over when a source will cooperate in a meaningful way. They are the ones truly working under stress.  Our job is to support them.
